How Solon works.
The questions advocates actually ask, answered properly. If yours is not here, ask below or write to us — a person replies.
Getting started
Signing in, pulling your docket, and what to do on the first day.
Your matters
How syncing works, what the data-age banner means, and masked matters.
Drafting
Dictation, voice commands, teaching your format, and exporting.
Citations
How treatment is worked out, and how to place an authority.
Clients
Adding people, the portal, and sending updates.
Billing
Plans, metering, invoices and cancelling.
Ask a question
Answers come from what we have written, not from a model — so if nothing here covers it, you get a person rather than a guess.
Common questions
My code has not arrived
Check the Promotions and Spam tabs first — filters occasionally sort a first email there. The code expires in ten minutes; asking for a new one kills the old one, so use the most recent. Three requests in fifteen minutes is the limit for one address. If nothing arrives after two attempts, write to help@solonai.legal from the address you are trying.
My docket did not load every matter
Solon searches the court record for your name as the court records it, which is not always how you spell it. Try the initial, the full name, and any variant that appears on a vakalatnama. Matters where you are not on record — a colleague's brief, for instance — will not appear, and can be added from the clerk console with the CNR.
A date is wrong
Solon shows what the court's own record says, and when the court last updated it. Where that is stale it says so in amber. If a date differs from what happened in court, the court record has not caught up — confirm at the counter, then set the correct date in the clerk console. Anything a person enters by hand is never overwritten by a later sync.
The microphone stops after a few seconds
The browser ends a recognition session during silence. Solon restarts it automatically while you are still in Speak mode, so a pause to think does not end dictation. If it stops entirely, check the microphone permission in the address bar — the browser remembers it after the first time. Chrome or Edge is needed; Safari has no speech engine.
Dictation got a word wrong
Correct it by typing. Solon counts corrections, and a word your chamber keeps fixing gets fixed for you. Section numbers are read as digit groups — 'one thirty eight' is 138 — and around seventy legal terms are corrected as you speak. Commands are only recognised when they are the whole sentence, so dictating a sentence containing 'delete the last word' is text, not an instruction.
Solon has not learnt my format
Give it a petition you have already filed as a .docx, on the Format page. A PDF has already lost its formatting. Solon reads the margins, typeface, spacing and paragraph numbering out of the file and shows you what it read — if any of it looks wrong, that document may not be typical of your filings.
Why is an authority marked distinguished?
Because a later bench discussed it and did not follow it. Solon reads the paragraph where the citing judgment addresses the cited one, works out whether the court engaged with it or a party merely urged it, and classifies. Below sixty per cent confidence it says so instead of guessing. Every one links to the paragraph, so you can check it in thirty seconds — and you should.
Can my client see my drafts?
No, and not by configuration — by construction. The portal reads from a view containing only the stage, the dates, the orders and the messages you sent. Drafts, notes, research and bench data are not in that view, so they cannot leak from it. A portal link is a bearer credential though, so anyone holding it sees that client's matters. Revoke it from the Clients page if it goes astray.
Why will Solon not let me write to a client?
Because the matter has no side recorded. Without knowing whether the chamber acts for the petitioner or the respondent, Solon cannot tell your client from the opponent — and addressing the wrong party is the worst mistake this product could make. Set it in the clerk console.
How do I get my data out?
From your account page, at any time, without asking us. It stays available for thirty days after you close the account, and even with an invoice outstanding — we will not hold a chamber's papers over a billing dispute.
Still stuck? Write to us with the matter you were looking at and roughly when it happened — logs are easier to find that way.
